Well-known Star Trek actor and crypto enthusiast, William Shatner is planning on building an authentication system powered by the Ethereum blockchain. Looking back into May last year, Shatner announced his plans to help build a blockchain that would be centred around memorabilia authentication. Shatner said that he would be working alongside Elon Musk & Vitalik Buterin and more than a year later since he announced the news on Twitter, Musk got back to him saying that he didn’t have much use for Ethereum at the moment and that he isn’t planning on building anything on the ecosystem. I’m not building anything on ethereum. Not for or against it, just don’t use it or own any. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 2, 2020 The Tesla chief may not be on board with the plan but Shatner still sees potential for a blockchain use in the memorabilia game. Musk is well known for his own ominous tweets and sends out mixed signals when it comes to the crypto space. Not long ago, he took part in the Third Row Tesla Podcast and said that he was neither here nor there when it came to bitcoin. He wanted to explain its use is more for fringe activities. “This sort of gets the crypto people angry, but there are transactions that are not within the balance of the law. And there are, obviously, many laws in different countries. And, normally, cash is used for these transactions. But, in order for illegal transactions to occur, cash must also be used for legal transactions. You need an illegal to legal bridge. That’s where crypto comes in.” It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out. For more news on this and other crypto updates, keep it with CryptoDaily! Post fetched from this article
